1. What are the recent visa policy changes in Vietnam?

Here are the latest updates regarding visa policies and procedures for Vietnam:

Vietnam Requires Pre-Entry Declaration for Foreign Travelers Arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Effective from 15 April 2026).

- According to Resolution 389/NQ-CP, recently issued by the Vietnamese Government on 02 December 2025, an additional 41 entry points have been made available for e-visa holders, increasing the total number of eligible entry and exit points from 42 to 83. These include 04 more airports, 11 land border gates, and 26 seaports. (Sources)

- On 11 August 2025, Vietnam granted a 45-day visa-free policy (Resolution 229) for 12 more European countries, including Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, Belgium, Romania, Switzerland, Croatia, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Czech Republic.

- The 30-day gap between two visa-free entries has been removed. Travelers can now re-enter Vietnam immediately without waiting 30 days between visits.

- Visa on arrival is only available to travelers joining a tour program or in cases of urgent or emergency travel.

- Vietnam waives visa requirements for three more European countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland, for travelers visiting Vietnam on an organized tour by a Vietnamese tour operator, effective 1 March 2025.

However, urgent visa applications can be completed within 1 working day for both types. In cases requiring super urgent processing, visas can be issued in as fast as 2 hours.

A 90-day single entry Vietnam e-visa costs $25 USD per person when applied for on the official website (evisa.gov.vn).

7. How do I get a visa for Vietnam?

An electronic visa (e-Visa) is the easiest and most convenient way to obtain permission to enter Vietnam. As of 2025, e-visa is available to citizens of all countries and territories and can be used at 83 international ports of entry across land, sea, and air.

8. Who does not need a visa for Vietnam?

Nationals holding valid ordinary passports of 39 countries, including Brunei, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Chile, Panama, Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania and Slovenia are exempt from Vietnam’s visa requirements. Eligible travelers may enter Vietnam for the purposes of tourism, business, family or friend visits, cultural exchange, or transit and may stay for the duration permitted by their respective exemption (14, 21, 30, 45 or 90 days).
