Me and my partner need a 30 day Vietnam tourist visa. I am very confused to how we are supposed to enter Vietnam via boat on the Phnom Penh to Chau Doc river crossing, as many sites including yours state you can only get an e-visa approved at an AIRPORT. Not a river port. Can I get a Vietnam Visa at the Embassy in Phnom Penh? And will this allow. Me to cross into Vietnam via Boat? Also how long will the visa take? And how much is it please? Thank you, we are going to make the crossing on the 16th on February (3 days) is this possible??

Answer: If you are currently in Phnom Penh, you can contact the embassy there to apply for your visas. The process takes about 3 working days with the fee of about $40 US for a 30 day visa.

Expedited Paper VISA

Question: I am traveling with three others to Cambodia and Vietnam and are planning to go by boat from Phnom Penh to Vietnam, Chau Doc.  We leave in three days and just found out we require a paper VISA. We do not have enough time to apply for the VISA before we leave and have it mailed to our home address.  Is it possible to have it mailed to the hotel in Phnom Penh?

Answer: If you do not have time to obtain the visa before you go, you can wait until you arrive in Cambodia to apply for one as it takes only 1-2 working days at the embassy in Phnom Penh. You can also opt out for the e-visa option as it will be sent to you by email.

Looking for expedited e visa at moc bai border

Question:

I'm currently in Cambodia trying to enter Vietnam. Is it possible to pay to get an e-visa today? If so how much would it cost? Thanks, James Kritch

Answer:

Hello James,

We are afraid that there is no expedited e-visa service available, it takes at least 3-5 working days to get an e-visa through the official website. We advise that you contact your hotel in Cambodia to see if they can help you with an emergency visa service. We found the article below helpful for getting your visa at Moc Bai border:

95 days in Vietnam with occasion visits to Cambodia

Question:

I will arrive in Hanoi airport on 5th September and leave Hanoi on 7th December. I am a UK citizen so eligible for the free waiver for 15 days. Should I ask for a multiple 90 day visa to be used after my 15 days waiver has expired?

(David Payne)

Answer:

Dear David,

There are two scenarios:

  • 1 - You stay for less than 15 days on your first entry: our answer is No just apply for a 3 month visa when you exit Vietnam.
  • 2 - You stay for longer than 15 days on your first entry: our answer is Yes, please apply for a multiple entry visa to cover your trip. Then, when the 3 month visa gets expired, you can use the free-visa waiver to re-enter Vietnam.

Have a good day!
