hi, my question is... can US citizens also apply for the vietnam visa here? because somebody told me that for us citizens we have to apply for it in the embassy?

Vietnam visa on arrival for US Citizen
You have two options to apply for your visa to Vietnam on your US passport, either to visit the embassy in the US to get your visa before you go or apply online for an approval letter to pick up a visa upon arrival at Vietnam airport.

Hi, Visa on Arrival is effective on the date on the approval letter or on the day the visitor arrives in Vietnam.? For example, I will not arrive in VN until Jan 25, 2011. Can I apply for 1 month tourist visa now (October 2011) or should I wait until the end of December to apply? Thank you for your reply.
