Why Is the Port of Entry Not Showing on My Vietnam E-Visa?
The current Vietnam e-visa no longer includes port-of-entry details, allowing travelers to enter through any of the 83 eligible international checkpoint. Accordingly, there’s no need to declare it in advance, worry about selecting the wrong entry point, or reapply if your travel plans change.
If your approved Vietnam Electronic Visa (e-Visa) does not show a port of entry, this does not normally mean that there is a problem with your visa. Under the current e-Visa format, the port of entry may not appear on the visa document. This is absolutely normal.
1. Updated E-Visa Format and Regulations
Starting from late 2025, Vietnam’s Immigration authorities have removed the port of entry field from the e-Visa format. This change follows the Government’s Resolution No. 389/NQ-CP dated December 2, 2025, which included changes in application form and expansion of the list of eligible ports.
As of 2026, the e-Visa format does not list the registered port of entry, which allows for greater flexibility in your travel. Your e-Visa remains valid as long as the information on the visa is correct and you enter Vietnam through an eligible international border gate.
2. Entry and Exit Procedures
You are now able to enter and exit Vietnam through any of the 83 eligible checkpoints including airports, land borders, and seaports.
This offers several advantages for Vietnam visitors as follows:
- Flexibility of ports: You may enter through any of these 83 eligible international border gates, regardless of the port you originally selected in your application.
- Changes to travel plans do not impact your entry: If your travel plan changes after you submit your application, you may enter through another eligible port without submitting a new application for that reason. For example if you fly to Hanoi instead of Ho Chi Minh City, you can still use the same e-visa.
- Pre-travel verification: Although you may use any eligible port, it is advisable for you to confirm in advance that your intended point of arrival is included in the official list of eligible e-Visa entry points.
3. Essential Information You Must Verify
If the port of entry/exit does not appear on your e-Visa, you need to check the other information shown on the visa carefully before you travel. The information on your e-Visa must match your passport exactly.
Specifically, you need to confirm that the following details are correct:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Passport number
- Nationality
- Passport expiry date
- Visa validity dates
You also need to confirm that the visa validity period covers your intended stay in Vietnam.
4. Examples - Modification of Entry Points to Vietnam
| Original Plan (Application) | New Plan (Actual Arrival) | Likely Accepted? | What to expect? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hanoi (Noi Bai) Airport | Ho Chi Minh City Airport | Yes | You are 100% Safe. Airport-to-airport change is totally normal.. |
| Any Airport | Land Border (e.g., Moc Bai) | Probably | This is usually fine but make sure that the land border entry is included in the 83 official gates list. |
| One Land Border | Another Land Border | Probably | This is often accepted, but you need to ensure that the new land border gate is one of the 83 official checkpoints. |
