I am leaving Vietnam before my 45 day visa expires. When I come back to Vietnam on 24th December I will still have one day left on that original visa. Will I be able to get a new 45 day visa on arrival, even though I have one day left on the old one?. Thanks. Nick

Does this also apply to land borders? I'm planning to enter Vietnam by land coming from Laos on a German passport. Can I simply cross the border without having applied for anything beforehand?

@Marc, yes, the exemption applies to both air and overland entry; therefore, you are still eligible for the 45-day free stay.

Outward travel proof may not be required upon arrival in Vietnam; however, if you want to extend your exemption period, we advise that you do it at least 2-3 weeks before your visa stamp expires.
